Brian Waldron believes the AFL is making a ploy to get Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley to the Gold Coast Suns.
“A little spy has told me out of headquarters, there is a really strong push from the AFL to Mark Evans, to take a look at Nathan Buckley,” Waldron told SEN’s Hungry For Sport.
“It would be a move for profile. Mark Evans isn’t saying, from what I’ve heard, that’s what we need. We actually need a coach that wins games. We don’t need a coach of profile because the profile will come when we are winning.
“Buckley is very popular in the AFL and has lots of friends in the AFL.”
Suns coach Rodney Eade is out of contract at the end of the season, as is Buckley. Both coaches have come under immense pressure in their current positions due to poor on-field performance.
Eade was one of Buckley’s former footy managers at the Pies.
